18 Weeks and Counting!

Pictures: Me at 18 weeks; Baby at 10 weeks

Hello again!
So...I'm definitely BIGGER than I was last time I posted on here. But as far as I'm concerned, BRING ON THE BELLY! (Note, I didn't say butt and thighs...although those seem to be growing as well!)

We were thrilled to make it to our last Dr's appt. (it was a snow day, but the office stayed open!!!). And once again we got to hear Babe's heartbeat! It was a powerful 152 BPM! Yeah! I even got to hear Babe move...at least that's what the Dr. said that little rumble on the Doppler was. I have yet to feel him/her move (which many say you can begin to feel after 16 weeks), but many second-time mom friends have told me that it's hard to recognize the feeling during the first pregnancy. Tonight, after dinner, I put my feet up on the side of the couch, laid on my back and just relaxed, which is a suggestion Matt received from a co-worker. Not sure if I felt Babe or not, but it was relaxing anyway!

As of my appointment, I have officially gained 5 pounds.

Yesterday was my first official day of not being able to button a pair of pants! Yeah - I had to leave the top of them undone...I gotta say, that was pretty comfortable. Wear a long shirt, and no one knows the difference! It was an interesting realization...to discover that I no longer "fit" into pants I've been wearing for years! I also began clearing out my closet of the smaller clothes in there to make room for the bigger clothes I've been storing away. Yikes! Just hoping that someday I'll be able to see them again without crying! But thanks to a bunch of my friends at church, I have a completely new wardrobe for this season of my life, so I'm actually looking forward to growing into cute clothes I've never worn before!

Matt and I have been walking the dog together for exercise...which Misha appreciates very much! We're trying to get better, as a family, of a)getting outside and enjoying the beauty of nature b)doing more physical activity together, so this is a great kick start. We've walked 3 days in a row!

Here's what my Mayo Clinic book has to officially say about Babe at this point: "She/he is about 5.5 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs an impressive 7 ounces! The eyes and ears have a baby-like appearance. Eyebrows and scalp hairs are starting to appear. Although I'm unaware of it, my baby is probably having frequent episodes of hiccups."
How amazing is that, right?!? I mean, all that's going on inside of me, and I can't even feel it! All I've got to prove that anythings going on in there is an ultrasound picture, a little pooch in my belly and some crazy hormones! Ha!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day!!! We're loving God, loving each other, loving Babe and loving you!

Blessings,
Kim

Hello world!

So...this is my first time ever blogging, but I thought this was a pretty darn good time to start, right?

Matt and I (well, really just me and my growing belly) are 16 weeks pregnant! It has been such an exciting, emotional, fun, tearful, happy, stressful 16 weeks, and I am SO happy to share with you that we are officially through our 1st trimester with a strong heartbeat of 155 beats per minute! Yeah! We're due July 19th.

Here's a picture of me...I'm totally getting thicker! Super cool thing - this morning, I woke up, and laying on my back, I was feeling my hard little bulge of a baby bump...and it had moved up during the night to the point that it was just below my belly button!!! Super cool! I've been up for awhile now, and gravity has pulled he/she back down, but it's so neat discovering new things about my body and the little body growing inside of me! How awesome God is for the way he made everything work together just right!

We have another Dr's appt. tomorrow (unless it gets snowed out AGAIN) to hear the heartbeat again and ask some questions. Can't wait!

Well, if you'd like to "follow" my blog, you can by clicking on "follow" over on the right hand side. If not, I totally understand...my own life is much cooler to me (and probably my mom) than to anyone else, so no pressure =0)

Just wanted to create this site as a way to keep people up to date on what's going on in the world of the Kettemans (all 5 of us...animals included).
